EP7 - IT Revolution Tech Leadership Summit 2024 - Europe

!Hey there, fellow digital warriors! 🚀

Let’s dive into the electrifying world of the IT Revolution Tech Leadership Summit Europe, where minds from all corners of the globe converged in a virtual extravaganza of innovation and insights. This year’s remote format brought together luminaries like Gene Kim, spanning from the East Coast of the US to Australia and New Zealand fellas, fostering unprecedented levels of engagement and connectivity. As a seasoned conference participant and speaker, I must say, the accessibility of this event was truly remarkable, fostering interactions like never before.

One of the standout features of the summit was its ingenious dual-track format. The primary focus was on advancing the community with Gene Kim and Steve Spear’s latest publication, “Wiring the Winning Organization.” Their framework, encompassing slowvification, simplification, and amplification, provided a refreshingly simple yet effective blueprint for organizational evolution. Experience reports shared on this track provided invaluable insights into the community’s journey toward elite performance, covering a wide array of topics ranging from agile methodologies to platform engineering with evolutionary IDP, and much more. Special recognition goes to Jonathan Smart for his captivating presentation titled “The Top 3 Patterns From Past Ways of Working You Need to Know!” His talk skillfully combined gamification with historical research, offering fascinating insights into the evolution of our current work methodologies. 🎉

Meanwhile, the other track delved into the realm of AI and its transformative impact on work. Renowned expert Prof. Ethan Mollick, author of “Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI,” emphasized the pivotal role of AI as a co-pilot rather than a driver. However, he cautioned that without proper skills and wide spreading AI utilization to all the fields, employees risk doing more harm than good to their organizations. Mik Kersten’s case study “Decoupling from Foundational LLMs” underscored the importance of understanding the implications of integrating AI deeply into organizational processes, a field that remains largely unexplored.

And yes, let’s not forget about my talk! 😄 It was a blast, and the post-talk discussions were incredibly insightful. The innovative use of AI-enhanced video/graphics and the application of TDD to refine my speech within the allotted time were real crowd-pleasers. But the real buzz was around how I evolved the Coding Dojo idea designed back in XP2005 by Laurent Bossavit using behavior engineering and tying it into the company’s big picture with OKRs on neuroscience overdrive 🧠. To quote an interesting comment: "Mike, you totally juiced up those OKRs with some serious 💊 steroids 💉!"

In the next ⏭️ blog post, I’ll delve deeper into my talk and share it with the wider community once IT Revolution releases it in their video library. But for now, here’s a sneak peek of Gene Kim introducing my talk! 💡
